Striking Poverty: Open Budgets for Improving Accountability and Service Delivery

In contexts where budgets are publicly available, how do we ensure meaningful participation, and scrutiny and use of budget data by state and non-state actors to influence government spending decisions and to improve accountability and service delivery, especially for the poor? To explore and innovate around the challenges around encouraging and using open budget data, several expert practitioners kick off a conversation on the World Bank’s Striking Poverty platform, on innovative ways to involve the media, civil society, parliaments, and citizens in using open budget data to improve government accountability and service delivery for the poor. The MOOC on Climate Change Started on January 27, 2014

The World Bank Group launched its first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) on climate change and it's HUGE. In fact, it’s Massive. This MOOC, hosted on the education platform Coursera, is free and contains a snapshot of the most recent scientific evidence and practical actions on what you can do about tackling climate change, a challenge that affects us all.
